About Reflections

Reflections is a National PTA arts recognition program that has inspired creativity in students for more than 50 years. The program gives students an opportunity to express themselves through the arts while exploring a new theme each year.

This year’s theme, “I Belong!”, invites Rice Middle School students to reflect on where and how they feel a sense of belonging — and share it through their creative voice.

At Rice, Reflections is about expression and recognition, not competition. Every student who participates will be celebrated, and selected entries will advance to the Plano ISD Council PTA level, with the possibility of recognition at Texas PTA and National PTA.

Submit Your Entry

Each entry must include:

A title
An artist statement (10–100 words) explaining how the work relates to the theme

Eligibility

Open to all Rice Middle School students (Grades 6–8).
At least one member of the student’s household must be a current Rice PTA member by October 1st, 2025.
Students may submit in multiple categories, but each entry must be original and follow category rules.

Important Dates

Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 → All entries due (digital submissions only).
Results announced in spring, followed by our Reflections Celebration Party in April 2026.

Recognition

All Rice participants receive a certificate and recognition gift.
Selected entries advance to the Plano ISD Council PTA level.
Advancing students may move on to Texas PTA and National PTA levels.
A Reflections Celebration Party will be held in April 2026 to honor all participants, with goodie bags, refreshments, and sponsor recognition.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Support our students and help celebrate their creativity! We’re seeking community partners to make the Reflections program a success.

Ways to Support:

Donate items for goodie bags (school supplies, coupons, treats).
Provide refreshments or snacks for the April Celebration Party.
Sponsor certificates, ribbons, or awards for participants.
Contribute thank-you gifts for judges and volunteers.
Make a monetary donation to support event costs.

Recognition for Sponsors:

Your logo/name featured on the Rice PTA website, and newsletters.
Shout-outs on PTA social media
Recognition during the Reflections Celebration Party.
Option to include promotional items in student goodie bags.
Company logo, name on rosette tails (if sponsoring rosettes).

What is Reflections?

What are the categories?
Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts (2D).

How do I submit my entry?
Download the rules, complete the entry form, and submit your digital entry using the submission link above.

Do I need to be a PTA member?
Yes. At least one person in your household must be a member of the Rice PTA by October 31, 2025.

Can I submit more than one entry?
Yes! You can enter multiple categories and submit more than one piece per category.

What happens after I submit?
Entries are judged at the school level. Selected works advance to Council, State, and even National PTA levels.

How are students recognized?
All participants are recognized at Rice. Students with advancing works are also recognized at higher levels. Everyone is invited to the Reflections Celebration Party in April 2026.
